UAL - Level 3 PaPA - Acting Pathway - Unit 1 - 4 ~Ilonka Flora Unit 4 Contextual awareness Romeo & Juliet Language - William Shakespeare's language is often difficult for us modern readers to understand most of the time, but some of his words or sayings which he has invented are still said today and we are familiar with them. some of the 1600 common words that Shakespeare has invented includes satchel, fashionable, addiction, and gloomy, in fact here's a list of more. So, even though the language may be hard to grasp, if you're performing Shakespeare you must know the words you are saying in order to deliver it to the audience in the right context. This way you can convey meaning to the audience. There are jokes, puns (even in death - Mercutio ''Look for me tomorrow, and you shall find me a grave man'' ), insults and sayings that if you don't deliver them properly with the right intention, then it will not be perceived well by tod...

unit 1-4 week 9 and 10

UAL - Level 3 PaPA - Acting Pathway - Unit 1 - 4 ~Ilonka Flora Week 9  Wednesday In this lesson we were not supervised, however, our class took initiative and we decided to rehearse intense scenes and tweak them. The scene we rehearsed was the big fight between Mercutio, Tybalt and Romeo.I was reading in for Mercutio. We were adding in details such as Benvolio(Abdul) and Tybalt's friend (Dylan) having a glare at each other whilst Tybalt and Mercutio keep attempting to show their Alpha sides. We gave feedback to one another, however in this scene we focused on Tybalt's fury for Romeo, we went over it until we felt a raw and believable emotion. Abe was very dedicated to his role, and he imagines Tybalt's beliefs to be his. The next intense scene we focused on was the scene where Romeo find Juliet 'dead'. We encouraged Jeremy (Romeo) to try to visualize how he would truly react if the love of his life was dead, we tried to evoke the emotional memory technique. It...

UAL - Level 3 PaPA - Acting Pathway - Unit 1 - 4 ~ Ilonka Flora Official Shaw Theatre Evaluation On the day of the performance, our class went to the Shaw theatre first thing in the morning. We did our dress rehearsal, and we were told about what will be happening and where we should be at what time. The picture on the right was one of my final looks for lady Montague, however, she is more of a flashy person, The dress and scarf were kept, but a mini dress was her main outfit  My final decision for Lady Montague's outfit was adding other details, such as a fancy coat, stylish sunglasses, flashy rings, earrings and necklaces. When she appears in scene 1 she is wearing her dress and a baby blue scarf, she also holds a pink clutch with her. Little details like this show more depth to a minor character. The next scene she enters is the party scene, she wears the same outfit with a green party mask. The next scene she enters is once Mercutio and Tybalt have been killed, T...

unit 1-4 unit 2

UAL - Level 3 PaPA - Acting Pathway - Unit 1 - 4 ~Ilonka Flora Unit 2 The audience is what we describe a group of people who have gathered to in certain place and time to watch a performance. The drama audiences are described as 'artistically self-aware' as they have given permission for the art to be displayed before them just by attending a show. It's like they are agreeing to see what is not really there, which is the story they are being told,  the performers have permission to take them into a world that is not physically there. The audience, however, is still the public so they range from all types of people, sometimes the audience is a certain group such as younger children or mature adults. nonetheless, they are open and willing to use their imagination. It's crucial to be aware of stage spaces. If it's done and planned properly, you can present a professional piece. In order to achieve this, first, you must know your  stage space, (Centre stage, ...

units 1-4 skills audit

UAL - Level 3 PaPA - Acting Pathway - Unit 1 - 4 ~Ilonka Flora Unit 1 skills audit My main skills in performing arts are acting and singing. I am on a performing art level 3 BTEC course, and this requires: Confidence: This is one of the most important skills needed in order to pursue performing arts.  Improvisation: During auditions for this course, I performed a monologue, it was a 'sad' piece, but I was told after performing it to try again but this time, to tell the story with humour Freeze frames: This helps to engage with the audience. Use of body language, levels and facial expression helps the audience understand whats going on in the freeze frame. Usually, freeze frames are used to tell a story in a frozen picture state. Completing things on time Motivation: This is also one of the other most important skills needed in order to pursue any career really, you must find your motivation, whether it's your life-long dream or you really enjoy it. Find a ...
