Week 9

Wednesday
In this lesson we were not supervised, however, our class took initiative and we decided to rehearse intense scenes and tweak them. The scene we rehearsed was the big fight between Mercutio, Tybalt and Romeo.I was reading in for Mercutio. We were adding in details such as Benvolio(Abdul) and Tybalt's friend (Dylan) having a glare at each other whilst Tybalt and Mercutio keep attempting to show their Alpha sides. We gave feedback to one another, however in this scene we focused on Tybalt's fury for Romeo, we went over it until we felt a raw and believable emotion. Abe was very dedicated to his role, and he imagines Tybalt's beliefs to be his. The next intense scene we focused on was the scene where Romeo find Juliet 'dead'. We encouraged Jeremy (Romeo) to try to visualize how he would truly react if the love of his life was dead, we tried to evoke the emotional memory technique. It worked, after a couple times, Jeremy created a sentimental moment, delicate and sombre.

Thursday
In this lesson we focused on the party scene, we decided that the girls and boys will enter dancing separately, In a line the girls swing with their hands and feet to the right and to the left as we enter, Juliet (Georgina) is leading, She then leaves the line, in order to mingle, now the rest of us girls are in a line, to the beat of the song we bop  simultaneously. The boys had their own choreography where they take a drink from an imaginary table. This emphasises the idea of a party.

week 10

Monday
We had our last dress rehearsals in our college theatre. This was the basic outfit for Lady Montague. I had chosen a snake print dress with a baby blue scarf as an accessory. If you look closely at the picture (Below), you will notice that I am also wearing bracelets and other flashy pieces of jewellery. This adds detail to Lady Montague's love for money & riches. Jeremy as Romeo wore a navy suit and navy loafers. He had a camera hanging from his neck, I think this shows his love for moments, and that he feels the need to cherish and capture them, giving him a sentimental and almost nerdy demeanour. We focused on polishing and tying up any loose ends. The next focus was to stay focused as a professional group of actors, onstage and backstage, this way we are more effective in knowing what comes next, and who should be entering and exiting.
