Pros and cons of higher education
PROS
Attending higher education increases your chances of getting a higher paying job as you are obtaining degrees and diplomas that give you specific knowledge and content for the career you want to pursue and is required of it. Also when you have gained degrees and diplomas you are looked at more, you become more noticeable than you were before and stand and out from others, giving you a better chance of landing a desired job. e.g. Actors who have been to top drama schools get easily noticed in auditions, by agents, managers, directors and other actors allowing them more opportunities to network which is what helps you get to the top in this industry today. People who do apprenticeships would be looked at less, and the ones who do A-levels are the 'special bunch'.
Bringing historical views into this, it was said that it was a guarantee that you will have a higher than average paying job after completing your higher education course and be automatically considered middle class due to the change of annual income.

Educational gospel: Talks about how education helps young adults to turn the negative aspects of their life around such as their social life, their financial situation, helps to disengage them from crime and if there were signs of family detiriation then it would help stop that
CONS
If you want a specific high paying job, you would need to have a diploma, degree in order to qualify for it, without it you cannot. Also when studying for a particular degree in higher education, you can only apply that to certain jobs, having an acting degree will not get you a job as a banker, for example, you must specialise in accounting and business. so it can limit you to certain careers so you may have issues if you end up realising it isn't what you want to pursue. Another con would be the stress that comes with higher education, students may become overwhelmed with the workload and develop mental illnesses, and become socially closed off. There is now a larger suicide rate because of the pressure that higher education brings.
One big con factor is debt. A number of students tend to be one hundred thousands of pounds in debt for a course that they could not finish, or in the end, are no longer interested in and in some cases, cannot find a job in that sector.
It is known but not often discussed that many young adults choose to do higher education because of the pressure and expectations applied on to them by their parents and families, so they feel like they have to.
