Everything we worked on and all the little ideas we had started off with, had been developed and worked on to create this final production. Our main focus for the scenes was to react to everything being said in the play and to also to strip away any 'pretty crying/screaming', and the fear of showing raw emotion. I believe that was our strength throughout the entire play. We could have worked on constantly keeping the energy up and working on some cues to create an organic flow. In the first scene, I noticed that in the video my voice was not as projected as I wanted it to be, i should speak towards the audience more and not downwards. Jaychelle who plays Haleema projected her voice and the emotion in it very well. I also picked up that Georgina who plays Ruhab, says her first lines as if she is reading, maybe it is because her character is supposed to be girly and proper. Some cues appear rehearsed and not natural in the first scene. I was able to make the audience laugh by being dopey and pointing to my ear when Haleema mentions that a woman has three holes.nIn person our actions seem natural because we want it to appear that way but it's important to watch the final performance back because you notice that actions need to be exaggerated and bigger to really emphasize the emotion and intention. The 'when would she have time to-' line is supposed to be cut off, and not sound like she's waiting to be cut off by me, However, we used the stage space well, and we made sure we were not standing or sitting for too long, we wanted to show the thought process. We didn't want to sit at the same time. When the girls stood up I sat down to create different levels. We are able to communicate the relationship and bond between the girls from the first scene and the audience is able to watch it grow, break down and then blossom again. In scene 2 the stage is dark so we focused on putting across the emotion in our voice, we were able to do that well. When we were setting the stage in the dark an issue we hadn't considered happened. The blood wrapped in the cloth and condom dripped on the floor, I had stepped on the blood with my flip flops, so whilst delivering the lines I decided to remove my slippers not create any footprints that would be visible on stage. Any mistakes made on stage were easily covered up by improvising and just going with it, such as when Georgina forgot the Garri, she walked off stage whilst delivering her lines and it appeared natural, it was also great that me and Jaychelle didn't react in a way that would show that she was not supposed to do that. Some of Jaychelle's diction and articulation needed work when she would deliver longer lines. But some monologues she said such as the Mr Rutaku lines in scene 6, were really great because it was broken down, and she could deliver them with meaning, intent and energy throughout. Our thought process was excellent especially during scene 4 and 11, the guessing game scene and the fight scene. Our chemistry overall was 'imminent'. Each of us has established a clear personality and character and we meshed them together to create 'Girls'. The Transition from laughing to crying that i did was well thought out, as I had the idea of using the toy bear as a source of comfort and entertainment. Jaychelle's bad dancing was intentional and comedic, you could hear the audience chuckling at her moves. I should slow down at times and let the silence sit for a bit, such as when I ask Ru questions about her child to let her answers linger to create a sombre atmosphere. Our Physical movements shows each characters way of dealing with the pain and suffering they are enduring. I show all sorts of emotions to convey that my character doesn't know what to think, she is young and her mind is vulnerable. Georgina's screams are beautifully raw and painful, it made a lot of people cry. In the last scene, the lights came up too quickly so the audience instantly knew that Haleema and Ruhab were dead. The mirror was supposed to be under jaychelle but it was not so I had to improvise. i picked up that i sounded a bit rushed, maybe because of some nerves. At the end where i'm supposed to laugh to myself, the lights were supposed to come down but they did not. for a long time. I did not break character which is positive because I was waiting for the lights to come down, I had to keep improvising. Overall our cues in big scenes were on point but needed work on smaller scenes, our character development and connections were conveyed well to the audience, and a lot of raw emotions had moved the audience so much that there were tears. That was our main goal, to touch people and spread the awareness of Boko Haram and I believe though there may have been some technical issues, we left that message in the audience's mind after the show had ended.

We did a really good job of showing the ugly which creates a raw experience for us and the audience.

More about issues and how it was overcome during the play
